A retained model for companies scaling fast. We plug in as your talent function when you need speed.
Whether you're building a team, or you're looking for a new opportunity and would like to have an open conversation about the market, let's start a conversation. Most of our best work starts with a 15 minute call.
Get in touch →Retain Talent is a specialist search partner for high growth AI businesses. Boutique, senior, and referral led by design.
Retain Talent was founded on a simple belief: the companies building the future of AI deserve a hiring partner who understands the technology, knows the people, and only makes introductions that genuinely fit.
That partner brings over 17 years in recruitment, including 8 years in-house, which means we have sat on your side of the table. We know what a great hire does to a scaling team, and what a bad one costs you.
Over that time we have delivered for some of the world's most exciting AI businesses and leading names in global fintech and financial markets, the kind of companies where the calibre of hire is non-negotiable. That bar is the one we bring to every search.
Around 90% of new business comes via referrals and warm relationships rather than cold outreach. That is not an accident, it is the whole model. We work with high growth AI, data and cloud businesses across the UK, US and Europe. When we call about a role or a candidate, it is because we have thought hard about the match.
One sector, understood deeply. We know the roles, the stack, and the stage of company you're building.
The best people come through trusted introductions. We've built a network worth being part of.
You deal with founders, not a junior researcher. Straight talk, real judgement, no filler.
We share a shortlist we would stake our name on. A small number of people who genuinely fit.
We work with high growth AI businesses and the senior engineering, data, product and marketing talent that scales them.
Growth puts pressure on every hire you make. We find the leadership and technical talent who have built and scaled before, and know what the next stage demands.
We only introduce you to companies where the fit is real. Relevant conversations, handled discreetly, and no wasting your time.
Depth beats breadth. We concentrate on the roles high-growth AI companies actually hire for.
Founding and scaling technical leadership.
The people building the core product.
Pipelines, infrastructure, data at scale.
Full-stack and product engineering.
Product marketing, growth and demand generation.
A proper conversation about the role, the team, and what good actually looks like.
We work our network first, then map the market for the people who fit.
A small number of candidates we would stake our name on.
Hands-on through process, offer and start. Relationships outlast the placement.
The work speaks for itself, but it is better coming from the people we have worked with.
Eddy is a rare breed of recruiter. He has delivered several Data Engineer hires for us in a matter of weeks, when previous agencies have been working the same role for months. He truly has an elite network around him and I would confidently continue to use him for any additional hiring support.
Everyone has been thoroughly impressed at Eddy's pace and quality of work. We received numerous high-quality profiles within a short timeframe, and ultimately hired a candidate sourced by Eddy on schedule. We have set a high bar for talent, and everyone is delighted with the hire made.
I would recommend Eddy without hesitation to anyone looking for an exceptional recruiter. He found a role that was perfectly aligned to my skills and experience, and it turned out to be one of the best roles of my career. Always responsive, always available.
I worked with Eddy as a candidate and the experience was pretty unique. He valued fit over placement at any cost, and actually represented needs in both directions. This approach is critical to finding and retaining talent, and unusual in a largely transactional business.
Eddy brought deep market knowledge, was incredibly approachable, and always responsive. He took the time to understand what I was looking for and consistently delivered quality results. I'd highly recommend Eddy to anyone looking for a recruiter who is both skilled and genuinely invested in finding the right match.
Eddy is a data based relationship guy, he wants to make sure there is a personal connection that will make for a successful hire. That's the hard work that goes into understanding the market and decoding profiles to make the connections to find the right fit.
Success should give something back. That's why 1% of every placement fee goes to a cause close to us, supporting young people in our own community.
For every candidate we place, 1% of the fee goes to Forever Young People, a Hertfordshire youth mentoring charity that is a cause close to the founders. It's a commitment we start with on day one, and one we've pledged to grow as the business scales.
The logic is simple. The same belief that drives good recruitment, that the right support at the right moment changes someone's trajectory, is exactly what youth mentoring does. We're just backing it with more than words.
A youth-mentoring charity based in Hertfordshire, working with young people across the county.
Forever Young People take a mental well-being approach to the issues facing young people today, from anxiety, truancy, anger and anti-social behaviour to deeper emotional struggles, through mentoring, support services and youth projects.
Our whole model is about people and potential. Spotting it, backing it, and connecting it to the right opportunity. Forever Young People do that for young people who need it most, right on our doorstep.
Every placement we make helps fund that work. Grow with us, and the giving grows too.

How we collect, use, share and protect personal data. This covers candidates we work with, contacts at client companies, and anyone who gets in touch through this website.
Retain Talent Ltd is a specialist recruitment business working with high-growth AI, data and technology companies across the UK, US and Europe. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
We are registered in England and Wales, company number 17389618, registered office 32 Codicote Road, Welwyn, Hertfordshire, AL6 9NQ. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under reference ZC218475.
Questions about this policy, or about the data we hold on you, go to [email protected].
Most of the time you give it to us directly, by sending your CV, filling in our contact form, or talking to us about a role.
We also source candidate data from other places, which is normal in executive search. That includes:
If we have collected your data from somewhere other than you, we will tell you within one month of getting it, or when we first contact you, whichever comes first.
Under UK GDPR we need a lawful basis for everything we do with your data. Here is ours.
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Identify and approach candidates who may fit a role | Legitimate interests. Running a recruitment business and connecting people with relevant opportunities, using professional data in a professional context. |
| Assess your suitability and represent you to a client | Legitimate interests, and steps taken at your request before entering into a contract. |
| Keep you on file for future roles | Legitimate interests, and your consent where we have asked for it. You can opt out at any time. |
| Deliver recruitment services to a client company | Performance of our contract with that client, and legitimate interests for contacts at the client. |
| Send occasional market updates or role alerts | Consent, or legitimate interests for existing business contacts. Every message has an unsubscribe. |
| Invoicing, accounting and tax records | Legal obligation, and performance of contract. |
| Right to work and compliance checks | Legal obligation. |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have weighed our interest in operating a search business against your rights and freedoms. You can object at any time and we will stop unless we have a compelling reason not to. In practice, if you tell us to stop, we stop.
We do not seek out special category data, which means information about health, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, political opinions, trade union membership, genetic or biometric data.
Occasionally it comes up. You might tell us about a health condition so we can arrange adjustments for an interview, or a right to work check might reveal nationality. When that happens we only use it for the specific reason you shared it, we only pass it on with your agreement, and we rely on your explicit consent or on our legal obligations as the basis for handling it.
We do not ask about criminal convictions unless a role has a specific legal requirement for it.
If we are putting you forward for a role, we share your CV and relevant details with that client. We always tell you which company before we send anything, and we do not submit you anywhere without your agreement.
If you are a client contact, we may share your name and role with candidates so they know who they are meeting.
We use a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf under written agreements. These include our email and document platform, our website host, our form handling service, our accountant, and any applicant tracking or CRM system we operate. They can only use your data to provide their service to us.
We may share data with professional advisers such as our solicitor or insurer, and with regulators, HMRC or law enforcement where we are legally required to.
We never sell your personal data.
We work with clients and candidates in the UK, the US and Europe, so your data may be transferred outside the UK. Some of our service providers are also based outside the UK.
Where that happens we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, which means one of the following: the country has UK adequacy status, the transfer is covered by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or you have explicitly consented after being told about the risks.
If you want details of the safeguards covering a specific transfer, ask us and we will tell you.
You can ask us to delete your data sooner and we will, unless we have a legal reason to keep it.
We keep your data on access-controlled business systems protected by multi-factor authentication and encryption in transit. Access is limited to people who need it to do the work. We review our providers and our practices as the business grows.
No system is completely secure, but if a breach happens that is likely to risk your rights, we will notify the ICO within 72 hours and tell you directly where required.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
Email [email protected] and we will respond within one month. There is no charge. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.
We do not make decisions about you by automated means alone, and we do not profile you in any way that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We may use software to search or organise data, but a person always makes the judgement about whether to approach you or put you forward.
This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies and does not track you across other websites.
Our hosting provider may set strictly necessary cookies to keep the site secure and running, for example to manage traffic and block malicious requests. These do not identify you personally and are exempt from consent requirements under the UK's PECR rules.
We update this policy as the business changes. The date at the top of the page tells you the current version. If we make a significant change to how we use your data, we will contact you directly where we can.
For anything to do with your data, email [email protected] or write to Retain Talent Ltd, 32 Codicote Road, Welwyn, Hertfordshire, AL6 9NQ.
If you are not happy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
